A Thrilling Adventure in a Prehistoric World. In a nutshell, Turok meets Minecraft…

Ark: Survival Evolved is a popular survival game that takes players on a thrilling adventure in a prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. The game was developed by Studio Wildcard and released in 2017 for various platforms, including:

  • PC
  • Xbox One
  • PlayStation 4
  • I believe it is now playable on most platforms including mobile devices and tablets (though their batteries may suffer!)

The game has received critical acclaim for its immersive gameplay, stunning graphics, and unique setting.

In Ark: Survival Evolved, players are stranded on a mysterious island filled with dangerous creatures. The goal of the game is to survive in this harsh environment by gathering resources, building shelter, and taming the wild beasts that roam the land. The game features a vast open world filled with various biomes, including forests, deserts, and mountains.

This may sound like Minecraft at this point, but there’s much more to it, and the style & graphics are much different.

One of the unique features of Ark: Survival Evolved is the ability to tame and ride dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Players can use a variety of tools and techniques to tame these beasts, including feeding them, tranquilizing them, and building structures to contain them. Once tamed, players can use these creatures to help them gather resources, defend their base, and explore the world.

I’ve been playing Ark for a couple of years, on and off, and so far I haven’t been able to tame anything more powerful than a Dodo or Dilophosaurus

The game also features a robust crafting system that allows players to create a variety of tools, weapons, and structures. Players can gather resources such as wood, stone, and metal to create these items. The crafting system is essential to survival in the game, as players will need to create weapons and tools to defend themselves against the dangerous creatures that roam the land.

Another unique feature of Ark: Survival Evolved is the ability to play the game in both single-player and multiplayer modes. In multiplayer mode, players can team up with friends to survive together in the harsh world of Ark. The game also features a PvP mode, where players can battle against each other in a fight for survival.

The graphics in Ark: Survival Evolved are stunning, with detailed environments and realistic-looking creatures. The game also features a day-night cycle and dynamic weather system, which adds to the immersive experience of the game.

Ark: Survival Evolved is a thrilling adventure in a prehistoric world filled with danger and excitement. The game features a vast open world, a variety of creatures to tame, and an intricate crafting system. The ability to play in both single-player and multiplayer modes makes the game accessible to a wide range of players. I’ve been playing it sporadically for a long time, and even when starting again, I still don’t get bored.

If you’re going to play Ark: Survival Evolved for the first time, here are some quick pointers to keep you safe on your first few days and nights.

What To Do

  • Keep an eye on your Hunger & Thirst levels and Weight levels.
  • Stay near your Spawn point, where it tends to be easier to deal with creatures and danger.
  • Harvest as many resources as possible early on, making it easier to craft stuff as you progress the Tech Tree.
  • Create a simple base, thatch is easiest and cheapest in terms of needed resources.
  • Cook your meat and eat berries! This keeps your health as high as possible.

What Not To Do

  • Don’t stray too far from where you start! It’s easy to stray into a Spinosaurus territory and get eaten!
  • Don’t leave raw meat in your Inventory or crates, it will spoil. Cook eat it and eat it, or use it to tame Dinos.
  • Don’t forget to repair and craft new tools.
  • Don’t accidentally attack or act aggressive toward medium or large Herbivore species. They can be as dangerous as a pack of raptors or a T rex!
  • Don’t forget to keep up with the Tech Tree, using points as you level up to create new stuff and high tech weaponry.

One thing I would do if you’re starting Ark as a noob is check out one of my favourite Ark-related Youtubers. There’s a lot of advanced content here but a hell of a lot of helpful hints and tricks for beginners.

Aaron Longstaff

Although this channel is based heavily on building things and buildings on Ark, I found this helpful when starting.

There are many other beginner guides for general gameplay but I can’t vouch for these as Aaron Longstaff is the only channel I’ve watched so far.

Whether you play Ark casually or dive deep into it, I’d love to see your bases and creatures you’ve tamed. Leave a comment below!

    Could Dinosaurs Swim?

Quick answer? No and Yes… No because generally dinosaurs were land dwellers, and yes because of birds. There were, of course, dinosaurs that lived near water, and other, non-dinosaur reptiles that lived in and around the waters, but dinosaurs in general did not evolve the ability to swim as far we know (and as far…
